Search terms questions
How do I check my Amazon backend search terms?
Paste the Search Terms field from Seller Central into the checker above. It counts the field in bytes against the 249-byte limit and lists every word that wastes space: words already in your title or bullets, repeats and punctuation. Then copy the cleaned version back.
Is the limit 249 or 250 bytes?
Amazon's limit is below 250 bytes, so 249 is the most you can use. It counts bytes, not characters: letters like é, ü or ß take 2 bytes each, so a field can look short and still be over.
Can I see a competitor's backend keywords?
No. Amazon never shows backend search terms publicly, so a tool that claims to extract them is guessing. To see what a competitor's listing ranks for, use ranked keywords instead.
Should I repeat words from my title in the backend?
No. Words in your title and bullets are already indexed, so repeating them only uses bytes you could spend on new terms.
Is the checker free?
Yes, the byte check and the cleaned version are free and run in your browser. AI suggestions ranked by search volume and the policy scan are on Pro.
