- 1,000 pixels or more on the longest side, so zoom works
Fails

- The product fills less than half the frame

Amazon's photo requirements
Main image: pure white background
RGB 255, 255, 255. Off-white, grey or a scene behind the product breaks the rule; lifestyle shots belong in the rest of the gallery.
Main image: the product fills 85% of the frame
A real photo of the product as sold, filling most of the image, without props or accessories that aren't included.
Main image: no text, logos or watermarks
No badges, borders, color blocks or added text. Infographics are welcome from the second image on.
Image size: 1,000 pixels or more
At least 1,000 pixels on the longest side turns on zoom, which shoppers use to check detail. Smaller images lose zoom, and very small ones can be rejected.
JPEG, PNG, TIFF or GIF
JPEG is the usual choice. Animated GIFs aren't supported.
A full gallery: 7 or more images
Lifestyle shots, a size or scale image, benefit infographics and what's in the box. Our audit counts the gallery against this.
Image requirements questions
What are Amazon's main image requirements?
A pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), the product filling about 85% of the frame, a real photo of the product as sold, and no text, logos, watermarks or props.
What size should Amazon product images be?
At least 1,000 pixels on the longest side, which enables zoom. Larger is fine; very small images can be rejected.
What is the main image on Amazon?
The first image in the gallery, the one shown in search results. It's the only image with strict rules, because it's what shoppers compare side by side before clicking.
How many images should an Amazon listing have?
Aim for 7 or more: the main image plus lifestyle, scale, infographic and in-the-box shots. Our audit checks the gallery count automatically.
Can you check my main image?
The free audit counts your gallery. The AI Vision Image Audit, on Pro and Agency, reviews the actual images: main-image compliance, unreadable infographic text and missing lifestyle or scale shots.
